It’s OK, I’m guilty of saying one or two of those lines myself… and, I must admit, I was once a “foster fail” too.
A foster fail? You know – when you intend on taking in a dog temporarily but end up falling totally in love and next thing you know, yup, you’re a foster fail. But even though I ended up adopting the dog I was only ever supposed to foster, I still wanted to help and be involved.
This is how I provided one helping paw at a time when I was unable to foster or adopt, and this is also how I gained the experience that brought me to where I am today.
At For Pete’s Sake we are all original and have different strengths and we are hoping for your unique helping hands as a dog shelter volunteer.
Fostering is important to us, but it is not for everyone and there are other ways to help that are important as well. Just because you foster, doesn’t mean that you can’t help in other ways!
Can one of our dogs carpool with you? We often have to move our intakes to the appropriate foster and sometimes vet appointments
This is an area we are new to and would love to try out! An auction would be fun. Any takers?
Do you have hair-raising prowess when it comes to searching online? Because we don’t! Have you dabbled in writing grant applications? This could be a unique and challenging way you can help.
Are you experienced in the world of canine manicures and pedicures (nail trimming – must have experience)? What about salon-worthy shampoo’s? Some people refer to them as baths but I know Pete doesn’t like that word.
Do you think that your skills hobbies can be used to help our dogs? Do you have skills in carpentry and want to help build items for events or to help dogs have a better life? Do you own a business and want to join forces? Let’s use our hands and our heads and work together! Ideas and skills are always welcome!
Like talking about your fur-babies and share pictures of them? Are you an outgoing, fun, enthusiastic extrovert with a passion for rescue? If so, this is the role for you! Event planning requires a lot of preparation for smooth execution. Help us make our fundraising and awareness events a success!
Calling ALL Bakers, Sewers and Crafters!
This is a splendid way to support the rescue while doing things you love. We raise awareness by attending pet store events, bazaars, pet-expos bake sales, and more. If you need help with ideas, touch base with us and we will assist you with ideas and you event. Let’s chat!
