Why We Started For Pete's Sake
Once upon a time, two girls were brought together by their passion for squishy faces, (not so) soft snores and sloppy kisses. They became friends working together for several years as foster liaisons for a rescue organization. Their friendship grew around their mutual love of brachycephalic breeds, as did their experience, and their desire to help as many dogs as they could. Then, one day, they put their heads together and had a great idea…
We decided to combine our rescue experience and become the voice of those who need it most.
How Pete Inspired Our Name
Now, you are probably wondering how we came up with the name For Pete’s Sake. This was an easy decision. It was named after my Boston Terrier, Pete. This little guy taught me to be loyal, humble, and to show love and kindness to everyone you meet. What I took away from the lessons taught by my best friend is that no one is perfect and we all have a story. This theme runs parallel with rescue. Many dogs come into our care and not all of them are perfect or have been set up for success to be a wonderful companion.
About Brachycephalic Breeds
For Pete’s Sake dog rescue is dedicated to brachycephalic breeds. Brachycephalic breeds are squishy-faced breeds which include Boston Terriers, English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs and Bugs.
Although we will never refuse help to a dog in need. It just so happens that our knowledge and acquired experience is that of the brachycephalic nature. This experience can be applied to many breeds, such as Boston Terriers, English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs, Bugs, etc., all of which have unique traits and often specific medical issues as well.
As a rescue that focuses on brachycephalic breeds. We want to help as many dogs as we can and we would like to pass this knowledge and experience on to you. With that said, we are happy to help you with any questions you may have even if the dog is not in our care, and you can contact us below
If you are surrendering a dog to us, as a rescue it is an essential part of the intake process for us to understand about any special needs a dog being surrendered to us may have. At For Pete’s Sake, we work with trusted partners and volunteers and strive to provide the best foster homes, veterinary care, and behavioural modification to set our little bachelors and bachelorettes up for success on their big day – the day they find their fur-ever family and fur-ever home. In short, yes, we are matchmakers!
